Some days can be more exciting than others and certain aspects of our research are especially good fun. Our visit to the Boutique bar Show in Manchester’s glorious town hall last week was a prime example!

We sampled some fabulous beverages (all in the name of research of course!) and heard from some very inspiring speakers. We came away rather jolly and full of new ideas.

The drinks at your event can really add a special element to proceedings. Local ales and personalised cocktails are becoming an ever more popular choice, and drinks that match the theme of your event can add a stylish and thoughtful touch.

Why not select a drink that means something to you? You could include ingredients from a country you visited on your travels, or a relevant colour, such as Bombay Sapphire for a 45th wedding anniversary. Perhaps you could select an ale which is brewed in the place you first met your partner. The choices and options are endless!

After such an exciting day of research, we are now back in HHE HQ for business as usual. We are going to hear from leading industry speakers, Jared and Anistatia Miller who are the directors of Mixellany Limited, a consultancy and publishing company that specialises in anything and everything to do with spirits and mixed drinks. We are also looking forward to meeting the Ritz Bar Team!

We will undoubtedly head back to Heaton House Events HQ with lots of exciting new ideas to share with you. We already offer a full range of bar solutions including outdoor bars, perfect for warmer weather.

The annual charity ball – this year with a theme of Alice in Wonderland – invited over 300 guests to take a trip down the rabbit hole for a night of dance floor dallies, decadent drinks and delicious delicacies.

Our team of white rabbits scurried amongst the guests serving an array of ‘Drink Me’ libations, the Mad Hatter made an appearance serving ‘sweet teas’ and Vanilla in Allseasons served a sumptuous sit down dinner which included butternut squash & Parmesan soup, beef with dauphinoise potatoes and, fitting with the theme, a delicious Queens pudding.

A huge team worked hard to transform Heaton House Farm into a fantastical party, fit for a a queen! A huge sum of money was raised for this amazing cause and a wonderful time was had by all who attended and took part.

Hen parties are traditionally considered the last chance for the bride to enjoy her freedom before marrying the man of her dreams and settling down for married life. However, in recent times this is no longer the general consensus and more hens are opting for alternative ideas to create a memorable day for the bride.

Whether she’s a lover of the outdoors, an adrenaline junkie or the chilled out pampered type, there is a hen do for everyone. Today, we take a look at some less traditional ideas for a the perfect hen do.

Why not take the hens to have a flutter on the horses? With a variety of racecourses to choose from – including Cheltenham, Chepstow, Aintree and Ascot – the decision is all yours. If you can, time the outing to coincide with the Grand National or Ladies’ Day at Royal Ascot, this will give you the opportunity to get dressed up in your finest.

You can organise the day with Racecourse Hospitality. Prices vary, from £50 per person to £200 per person, depending on needs, whether that be a private box with champagne and lunch or a simple picnic. Make it as lavish as you desire.

The Great Outdoors

Alton Towers offers great hotel packages, whilst Blackpool offers an intense night out as well as thrills in the day.

If these adrenaline-fuelling suggestions are a little too wild, then why not sit back and relax? A weekend of gossiping with your girls, in comfy robes and slippers, whilst having a facial, massage or other specialist treatment sounds like heaven. Price packages vary and each hen can select how many treatments she would like, meaning the package can suit everyone’s budget.

Enjoy the day they did, and we have to admit it all came together rather well. We had a wonderful time meeting the visitors, chatting to the stall holders and admiring all of the beautiful decorations, food, paper goods, flowers and stylish vintage cars (not to mention the exquisite clothes on the catwalk).

On the flip side, with so much to organise – it can be hard to establish a new regime. So what is the best way to find your motivation and integrate a new routine? Today we share our top tips to help you get in great shape for your special event.

Work Together
Ask your partner or a friend to join you with your new healthy regime. Organise set days of the week that you exercise together, be it walking, running or attending a class. You will be much more likely to stick to your new routine with some support. If you are working out with your partner in the lead up to your wedding, it is also a great way to establish a routine and begin a new, healthy lifestyle together.

Set Some Goals and Deadlines
With your wedding or special event looming, you will have set dates to work to. It is common for brides to be constantly aware of how many months/weeks/days they are away from wedding week, so why not also use this as a way to stay on track of your fitness goals? Structure some realistic goals and try to hit your deadlines as you work towards the big date.

It can also be a good idea to set yourself a separate fitness goal, such as a charity run. That way you will have another goal to focus on and help you stay on track.

Try Something New
If you are bored by the gym, or find it difficult to stick to your usual routine, it can be a good idea to incorporate something new. Try an exciting new class, take up an active new hobby or take on a challenge.

The engagement period or lead up to a special event can include a long list of events that will include meals that are more tasty than healthy, don’t let this deter you from your goal. Enjoy these events and celebrations, try to see them as mini rewards to look forward to. Adjust your everyday meals to incorporate fresh, healthy ingredients and controlled portion sizes.

Be realistic about what you choose to eat, setting strict guidelines and denying yourself anything you enjoy is unsustainable and will inevitably lead to failure. Enjoy your treats and eat sensibly.

Remember, as long as you feel happy and comfortable, you will look fantastic. Rather than worry or feel stressed about your looks, concentrate on using the exciting time in the lead up to your wedding or event to making yourself as healthy as possible. This way, you will feel relaxed and confident on your big day.
